Lee County Delinquent Property Tax List

Taxes are collected on the same statutory calendar as every other Florida county — delinquent April 1, certificates sold on or before June 1. We cover that cycle, and why this is a different lead from pre-foreclosure, here. What is not the same in every county is the property behind the delinquency, and how Lee runs its sale.

Where to find Lee County's delinquent property tax list

Lee County's real estate list goes out as a newspaper ad. The Tax Collector's delinquent taxes page carries the advertising notice, and the taxpayer list it links covers tangible personal property, so it won't give you houses. The May certificate sale is on the important dates page, the rules for buying certificates are on the tax certificates page, and the sale itself runs through LienHub.

A Lee County row ties each delinquent parcel to its property address, owner, owner's mailing address, tax amount due with the date it was measured, whether the owner lives at the property, homestead exemption status and assessed market value. Skip tracing happens inside Lispend and is bought separately, as credits.

What the delinquent roll in Lee County is made of

Real estate taxes in Lee County become delinquent on April 1, when a 3% mandatory interest charge is added to the amount due. Delinquent real estate is then advertised once a week for three consecutive weeks ahead of the certificate sale.

The property behind it

Every delinquent real estate parcel is offered at the certificate sale. In the Census Bureau's 2024 American Community Survey, Lee has 465,172 homes, and 27.5% of them are vacant, a count that includes seasonal and second homes.

How Lee County runs its certificate sale

Certificates sell at competitive bid, with interest bids beginning at 18%. Certificates not sold at the sale are held by the county, and they can be bought later through LienHub for face value, accrued interest and a $6.25 processing fee. An owner who redeems within 60 days of delinquency pays the face value plus a $6.25 fee.

What to do differently here

Check the amount due the day you call. The advertising fee is added to the tax bill for advertised parcels, so the amount due can be higher than the original bill. Your first question to the owner is whether they have paid since.
