Walton County Delinquent Property Tax List
Taxes are collected out of DeFuniak Springs on the same statutory calendar as every other Florida county — delinquent April 1, certificates sold on or before June 1. We cover that cycle, and why this is a different lead from pre-foreclosure, here. What is not the same in every county is the property behind the delinquency, and how Walton runs its sale.
Where to find Walton County's delinquent property tax list
Walton publishes its list as a newspaper ad in the DeFuniak Herald. The Tax Collector's delinquent real estate taxes page describes it. The certificate sale runs online, and the Tax Collector links it to LienHub. The Clerk's foreclosure and tax deed page covers the tax deed sales.
The ad lists parcels by sequence number, and the certificate sale calls them in that order.
Every Walton row carries the parcel, property address, owner and owner's mailing address. It also shows tax due with its measured date, owner-occupancy and assessed market value; skip tracing inside Lispend is bought separately as credits.
What the delinquent roll in Walton County is made of
Walton County real estate taxes become delinquent on April 1 each year, and Florida law requires the Tax Collector to advertise the unpaid parcels in a local newspaper.
The property behind it
In the Census Bureau's 2024 American Community Survey, Walton has 66,364 homes, and 45.3% of them are vacant, a count that includes seasonal and second homes.
Concentrated around Santa Rosa Beach, Miramar Beach, DeFuniak Springs.
How Walton County runs its certificate sale
By law the Tax Collector holds the tax certificate sale beginning on or before June 1 each year. Bidding starts at 18 percent and goes down, a quarter point at a time or more. A certificate holder can apply for a tax deed two years after the delinquency date, at a cost. The Tax Collector certifies the application to the Clerk of Court, the Clerk sets a sale date, and the highest bidder receives the deed. The Clerk's foreclosure and tax deed page names Real Foreclose, at walton.realforeclose.com, as the online venue for these sales.
What to do differently here
The advertising cost and the auction fee get added to what the owner owes, so the bill is more than the tax. Send mail to the resolved mailing address, since the property address may not be where they pick it up.
