St. Lucie County Delinquent Property Tax List
Taxes are collected out of Fort Pierce on the same statutory calendar as every other Florida county — delinquent April 1, certificates sold on or before June 1. We cover that cycle, and why this is a different lead from pre-foreclosure, here. What is not the same in every county is the property behind the delinquency, and how St. Lucie runs its sale.
Where to find St. Lucie County's delinquent property tax list
The Tax Collector's Delinquent Property Taxes page describes the tax certificate sale, and the deadlines page says the sale follows required advertisements. Certificates struck to the county are covered on the County-Held Certificates page, which says they can be bought online through the Lien Auction website. Tax deed sales are covered on the Clerk's tax deeds page.
Each St. Lucie row lists the parcel, property address, owner, the owner's mailing address and the tax amount due with the date it was measured, plus whether the owner lives there, the homestead exemption status and the assessed market value. Skip tracing is a separate credit purchase made inside Lispend.
What the delinquent roll in St. Lucie County is made of
St. Lucie County real estate taxes become delinquent on April 1, and a penalty applies to any payment made from that date on, so an owner on the list already owes more than the original bill.
The property behind it
In the Census Bureau's 2024 American Community Survey, St. Lucie County has 171,742 homes. 71.5% are single-family detached, 7.5% are mobile homes, and owners live in 79.0% of the occupied ones.
Concentrated around Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Hutchinson Island.
How St. Lucie County runs its certificate sale
The annual tax certificate sale opens for bidding in May. Certificates not purchased at the sale are struck to the county and can be bought online through the Lien Auction website at 18% interest. A certificate holder may apply for a tax deed once two or more years have elapsed since April 1 of the year the certificate was issued. Bidders register at RealAuction for tax deed sales, and a non-refundable deposit of 5 percent of the final bid or $200, whichever is greater, is due at the time of the sale.
What to do differently here
Tax certificates are sold on any unpaid portion of the tax liability for real estate taxes, so the amount due on the Lispend row and the date it was measured show what was still owed on that day. For a parcel that reaches a deed sale, the Clerk notifies the parties of the date and time of the impending online sale.
