Citrus County Delinquent Property Tax List
Taxes are collected out of Inverness on the same statutory calendar as every other Florida county — delinquent April 1, certificates sold on or before June 1. We cover that cycle, and why this is a different lead from pre-foreclosure, here. What is not the same in every county is the property behind the delinquency, and how Citrus runs its sale.
Where to find Citrus County's delinquent property tax list
Start at the Tax Collector's property tax cycle page, which says the delinquent real estate accounts are advertised in the newspaper. The advertising deadline is on the important dates page.
The tax certificate information page covers the LienHub sale and county-held certificates, and the Clerk's tax deeds page covers deed sales and bidder deposits.
A Citrus row carries the parcel, property address, owner, owner's mailing address, whether the owner lives there, homestead exemption status, assessed market value, and tax due with the date measured. Filter, export CSV and skip trace inside Lispend; skip tracing is bought separately as credits.
What the delinquent roll in Citrus County is made of
Taxes become delinquent April 1, and 3% interest is added to the gross amount at that point. Accounts still unpaid at the advertising deadline, typically the second week of April, are advertised, and advertising fees are added in mid-April.
The property behind it
In the Census Bureau's 2024 American Community Survey, Citrus has 88,619 homes. 68.5% are single-family detached and 19.9% are mobile homes.
Concentrated around Crystal River, Inverness, Homosassa.
How Citrus County runs its certificate sale
The Tax Collector sells certificates at LienHub.com, and the Clerk's page says the certificate auction has to be held on or before June 1. Bidding starts at 18% and the investor willing to accept the lowest interest rate wins. County-held certificates are bought on LienHub. A homestead parcel with less than $250 due is not eligible for purchase. A certificate is subject to tax deed application after two years from the date of delinquency. If an account reaches a deed sale, the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller runs it online on the Real Auction website. Bidders put down $200 or 5% of their maximum bid, whichever is greater. It has to be settled to the bidder account by 4:00 pm the day before the sale.
What to do differently here
Get to owners before the two-year mark, when the certificate becomes subject to tax deed application. Sort by amount due and homestead status. Check the measured date on each amount due against April 1 and mid-April, so you know whether the interest and advertising fees are in the number.
