A lis pendens (“suit pending”) is a public notice filed in county records when a lawsuit is pending against a property. Where Citrus County lis pendens filings are recorded
A lis pendens on Citrus County property starts as part of a lawsuit — typically a mortgage foreclosure complaint — filed in the 5th Judicial Circuit. Under Florida law, the notice itself only takes effect once it's recorded with the clerk of the circuit court in the county where the property sits (Fla. Stat. § 48.23). In Citrus that means the Official Records kept by the Citrus County Clerk of the Circuit Court, the county's official recorder, whose public Official Records search is where anyone can look up a specific filing or property.
