What a lis pendens tells an investor
A lis pendens is recorded when a lawsuit claims an interest in a property, most often a mortgage foreclosure. It becomes public the day the clerk records it, long before a sale date is set, which makes it the earliest public sign that an owner may need to sell. How a Florida foreclosure unfolds after the filing.
How these numbers are counted
We count each lis pendens the clerk recorded between October 1 and October 31, 2026, by its recording date, from the county's official records. Every night our count for each day is checked against the clerk's own records, and any day that comes up short is read again. Only counties that pass that check are in this table. A clerk can index a late filing days afterward, so a count can rise slightly after publication.
